There was an article recently about the BBC reporting on heatwaves Very often these heatwaves only exist in the "forecasts", but they don't materialize in the "actuals". It is good practice for all persons that are involved in or use predictive simulations to compare the predictions with the actual facts.
Another great source of weather and climate information is .
I found this a very interesting article. When I have a look at my own real cost of living (considering that I have my won apartment) then even the highest numbers in the article are very very low.

O.001%>. Isn't that close to the percentage number that even the end-is-nigh Climate Cultists accept is the ratio of CO2 in the atmosphere, or was it the percentage that Portugal's human activity contributes to the excess CO2?
Perhaps I ought consult BBC Verify to fact check the exact figure for me.

Elsewhere I've made pickles from end of season excess crops but used commercially available vinegar. As there's seems to be an glut of local red wine of interesting flavors has anyone make red wine vinegar from such and, WHAT DID YOU USE FOR THE STARTER ?

Hi,
Thanks but for the first batch it still needs a starter (madre?) which is the ingredient I can't find nor know where to look for it.
Use a homemade pasta madre if you've made vinegar before. The sourdough reforms every time you make a new bottle of vinegar. So if you've made vinegar before or have a friend who has, use the yeast generated in the previous recipe. Simply remove it with a spoon and transfer it to the new jar.[6] You can repeat this process over and over again.
As there's seems to be an glut of local red wine of interesting flavors has anyone make red wine vinegar from such and, WHAT DID YOU USE FOR THE STARTER ?

You can just do it by yourself. It's just flour and water.... natural yeast...
Traditional / artisan bakeries usually sell "fermento natural / fermento de padeiro" in packets. It's easy to buy there.
Has anybody else noticed that there are a lot more homeless people and beggars sleeping rough in the very center of Lisbon. I mean not only along Almirate Reis where this is normal, but yesterday we noticed this even along Avenida Liberdade with all of its expensive shops. In places it was smelling of excrement as well. We are often in Lisbon and are usually walking a lot, so maybe one doesn't notice when driving and parking in a garage. What has happened recently?
@Mickael
I just read Minister Costa is proposing eliminating the NHS status.聽 This is damaging to bringing in new business owners to help Portugal growth.
@seasunhere
Did you mean NHT Status? Or some other changes proposed (there is always something)?
I wonder if climatologists rely on external funding to conduct their research. I also wonder if their funding would dry up if they were to announce "Nothing to see here folks..."
I want past an shop, not in Porugal, which I used to frequent which sells "home brew" stuff. I used to brew beer in my younger days last century.聽 So I thought i may start brerwing again.
Does anyone know the rules in Portugal about brewing small batches of beer at home for personal consumption?
Don't know, but from the range of places that offer pot stills to make aguardente, and the number of small vineyards one sees, I can't imagine there'd be any problem.
I used to have a still (not in Portugal) and used it - a friendly police person suggested i stopped as, though it was not sold the ethanol was liable for tax so I聽 could be involved in "tax evasion". There were permits from the tax people for small scale non-commercial production but complicated.聽
@buchyvon There has been drought throughout most of Europe for several years. Most countries are avoiding taking steps to manage聽 aquifers as well. @felinecattus聽 It's a good question.聽 At this point, we occasionally hear about places where they don't have such a reliable water situation, but since most people are kind of stuck where they are anyway, in general they're going to think about it when it happens.
Municipalities will be pursuing an "Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustent谩vel" program from the UN, which does sort of touch on potable water.聽 I don't think you will find what you're looking for there, but maybe.聽 I expect most municipalities have web sites wherein they advertise their locational advantages for industry;聽 mine doesn't mention water availability, but it may have occurred to a municipality with really abundant fresh water.
Anybody know of an expat vicinity in the porto area that may have vacant ready-to-build lots (Has services available) available for purchase?
Also, If someone might be able to refer an excellent real estate attorney that they might have used in Porto would be great.
@Mickael solar, yes. You just need to make sure the battery is included in the price. They aren't typically!
It seems to me that, in the last 6 months, the queue for non EU passport holders at the airport passport control has grown and grown and now the wait is longer the flying time.

I can't confirm that. My friends from the UK are usually through passport control without long waiting times.
"Newspaper" article which I misread as Elon Musk wants to buy Portugal
This is an excellent article by Reuters on Migrants and Housing in Portugal. Whenever I go to Lisbon I notice that the situation is really dire. Real Estate in Lisbon is now the most expensive on the Iberian Peninsula.
Unfortunately the Portuguese government is not acting proportionate to the problem.聽
@TGCampo,
Which government? The one that was there for +8 years and didn't do anything about this, or the one that has been there now for 3 months? It's impossible to solve this serious & huge problem in 3 months...
The report is a bit old, from October 2023. In the meantime, those immigrants in Carcavelos are no longer there, because a luxury condominium is being built on the site..... life's irony....
@JohnnyPT My mistake. No Portuguese government has been so far acting proportionate to the severity of the problem.
I have come to the conclusion that no government (whenever, wherever) has the well-being of its population on its mind.
