Job Seeker Visa Accommodation

Guestposter99

Hey everyone,

I'm currently preparing my requirements for a job seeker visa in Portugal. I was wondering if I'm required to submit proof of accommodation to the embassy when submitting my application? It's not part of the requirements here but just 'Proof of financial resources equivalent to at least the sum of three guaranteed monthly minimum salary.'

Thanks so much in advance for all your help!

Hi, Welcome.

It's like you say. There is no specific requirement in terms of accommodation.

I applied in Washington and actually it's depending of the location and Consulate you are dialing with. They asked me for proof of accommodation, they will give you a list to fill out with your personal information and one of the items in the list is proof of accommodation.

Also, I recommend to show at least the minimum salary in Portugal times 6. My lawyer told me will be better to show at least 30 to 40% more of what they ask for.

Good luck!

@pmyxgdu Hi and apologies for hijacking your post!  I'm about to submit my application for a Job Seeker Visa to the Portuguese embassy in Rio de Janeiro.  Can you tell me how long they are taking to process?  I'm American so it's not the same process as for Brazilians.

About the accommodation: it is not required as long as you have sufficient means to support yourself and like others have said, the more the better.

Hi Rob64, Welcome.

Visas usually have to be answered by SEF within 60 days.

@Rob64 Hi! I just saw this. Thanks for looking into my query regarding accommodation -- appreciate it. I haven't submitted my application yet but the ones I have spoken to, got their visa approved in about 45 days.

@pmyxgdu I passed the 60 days 2 weeks ago and still waiting ! Don't trust too much in 45 days, SEF is taking forever because the re organization or the transition to the new agency and nothing that has to do with SEF is moving fast right now.
