D7 and housing

deirdrehammer518

I have an apartment available for yearly rent, but it doesn't start until April.  Our appointment is November 30th.  I know we need to show proof within 90 days of travel.  My question is, can I use a gap accommodation (like an air b&b for 2 months), as well as the lease for the year to suffice for a D7 visa interview, or must everything coincide with 90 days?

I can't answer the question - "show proof within 90 days of travel" doesn't ring a bell for me - but it might help to know what your travel plan is, and maybe where you're applying for the visa.  Just doing the arithmetic, it sounds like you expect to come over in February?  I think at most offices that might be a little optimistic - I know the advertised time has been 60 days, but people often wait twice that - which would solve your problem, wouldn't it?

Suppose you apply for a visa starting April Fool's Day.  When your visa is approved, you'll send your passport in to get the visa added to it.  If it isn't April yet but you want to get going, enter Portugal on a tourist visa, and in April re-enter on your resident visa.  Just an idea.  The temporary lodgings thing would probably work too.
