"Rent a Wreck" question

Strontium

Later on this year I've got to collect from various places and move some second hand building materials, old tiles, wood, old bricks etc to match and repair existing building. From many previous car hires it's usual for a 1000+ euro deposit against damage which seems to include tiny scratches and I don't think insurance will cover this deposit, So  does anyone have details of a vehicle rental place which uses older vehicles , I've used this in other countries (Texas Rent-a- Wreck) possibly somewhere between Porto and Lisbon?  Please contact me by PM so it doesn't get lost in the "no advertising" rule.

Thanks.

Olá @Strontium, although we don't know of any places as you describe exactly, but if you find you do need to go down the traditional car rental route you could consider buying third party insurance for only the excess, the €1000 damages liability. We often do that and it's far cheaper than buying directly from the main rental company. It's something you may be already aware of but almost always it's news to most people we mention it to. I'll send you a DM with a site I was just looking at this week.
