Open a bank account remotely

iricem25

I currently live in the USA, but I plan to retire in Portugal in the next few years. I would like to open a bank account remotely and am considering using E-residence for assistance. Do you have any experience working with E-residence? Is it a trustworthy company?

Hi @iricem25, Welcome.

I suggest that you only open a bank account when you really need it (to apply for your visa / residence permit), as you'll be paying around 100 euros a year to maintain it. Also, if you want to apply for a visa, you'll need to have a bank account, a tax identification number, and accommodation (to buy or rent). You can (but should't) do all this online, nor is it recommended. So what I suggest is that you take a trip to Portugal and hire a solicitor to help you with these procedures.

On this forum there have been some members who have opted for this paid service you mentioned. But it's up to you to decide.
