Hi. We moved to Portugal last year on a D7 from UK. It is highly recommended to apply from your home country as it will be dealt with before applications submitted in PT. You really don’t need a lawyer. They are expensive and only do things can do yourself much more cheaply.

There are plenty of resources on the web and Facebook which detail all the requirements for D7 and lists of the documents needed. It might seem a bit daunting at first but it could save you thousands of dollars.

Hi,

It is not necessary to use lawyer for your D7 Visa.  All the information is available on this website and through your own consulate in the USA.

Best of luck!

Hi,

If anyone came to Portugal under D7 and he/she lose his current job. Will there is an option of working in Portugal or he/she may need to apply for a work permit visa instead of D7 visa? Will he/she allow to stay in country untill he/she find a international/local job.

thanks

JohnnyPT

@Johnny,

Does it seem he/she needs to change the visa category D7 to Work Visa ?

Thanks

JohnnyPT

Of course, the requirements for each visa are different. You apply for a visa that has certain distinct characteristics and targets.

Can you still apply for residence visa through the e-visa portal?

JohnnyPT

@Lea,

You have to use the VisaGlobal website:

When applying for a D7 visa one is required to have passive income. Savings or salary won't be accepted.

You can work or not. Working is not a visa requirement neither is prohibited.

Are investment accounts that exceed the requirements sufficient although you do not currently withdraw any of the income?
