Algarve communities

Hi, I’m a convert to an Abrahamic faith group and would be interested to know which areas of the algarve have a strong religious Portuguese presence. Generally, I have no qualms about living anywhere in Portugal (as I was born and schooled and have I’ve lived much of my life in the U.K.), but I’d be interested to know which coastal areas have that Portuguese community vibe, morals, ethics and so on. Basically, I’d like to explore coastal Portuguese neighbourhoods 🙂 And if there is recommendation for moving north then that’s fine but I’ve never been out of the algarve.

From my research, Abrahamic Forum was created in Portugal in 2006, but it seems that it is no longer active, having been integrated in CMIC - Municipal Board for Interculturality and Citizenship in Lisbon.

Abrahamic Forum (Forum Abra芒mico de Portugal) was founded in 2006 with Muslim, Jewish and Catholic representatives and linked to the Three Faiths Forum () with links with groups worldwide. The Abrahamic Forum organised cultural events (including lectures and debates) and assistance to people in need (of any religion and also for the ones who might not profess any religion at all).

Such assistance was mainly organised through a task force composed of people from the three religions joining hands to work with a selected Portuguese NGO and making food available. In 2008, Abrahamic Forum joined the Municipal Board for Interculturality and Citizenship (Conselho Municipal para Interculturalidade e Cidadania聽 - CMIC), which nowadays joins 37 religious groups and immigrant associations and is hosted at the City Hall of Lisbon. It is also a party to the International Movement of Charter for Compassion ().

The Islamic Community in Portugal, the Israeli Community in Portugal, the Jesuit Refugee Support Service, the Portuguese Catholic Migration Worker and the Association for the Defence of Immigrants' Rights, among others, are part of CMIC.
