Hello Vaishali,
In Serbia, you can only make a living from art if you are exceptionally talented, such as in music or acting. Unfortunately, I don't believe you can make a living from painting, and you'd need to work another job to support yourself.
It is not impossible to make a living as a painter in Serbia, but you must have important contacts or, at the very least, exceptional talent.
Several people I know who work in graphic design and create cartoon, book, and comic book characters make good livings. You can earn a very good living from it.
@Banatus I sing too, but only bollywood songs. So how will I get a job in the field of singing in Serbia?
If I learn graphic designing will I get a job in Serbia?
Most graphic designers in Serbia work for foreign clients, so you don't even have to be in Serbia to do that work. I wouldn't know how to say whether the job is guaranteed. All of mine got jobs, but that doesn't mean that everyone got a job.
To earn well in any job, including art, you must be well connected in society. Even if you learn graphic design, you will need to network in order to land a job in that field.
Bollywood songs, as you might expect, do not help a career in Serbia. Those who sing at weddings earn a lot of money, and of course, our home songs are popular.
@Banatus Thank you so much for describing me about this so well. I will do whatever I have to do to pursue my career in Serbia. As you said that I have to connect with the society, how can i connect with the society so that i can get a job in Serbia
I suppose you'd have to network with people who already work in graphic design. Getting to know such people in India could be beneficial because, I assume, Indians mostly work for foreign clients, possibly in the same teams as Serbs. You might be able to get a referral from them.
Another option is to join groups on social media, and the third and best option is to come to Serbia and enroll in graphic design classes. That way, you can make good contacts right away and possibly land a job right away if you prove to be the best in the group.
Furthermore, you could try to find clients through one of the many freelancer applications (freelance, upwork, fiverr), and when you have a certain income and security should you relocate to Serbia and begin expanding your business.
@Banatus Before I had no idea about Serbia, now you have given me a lot of information. Thank you for this, it is very beneficial for me.

Do you have any help to offer, then why not share it on the forum?
@danastringesti I think that only a few of the best in that business can make a living in Serbia. For foreigners who come to deal with it, I am not optimistic.
@Banatus because I'm planning to move to serbia with my fiance and Im looking for job now . I have some experience in interior design , My background is product designer. Do you know how I can find job in serbia ? Do you know a website for it ?
@danastringesti I apologize for the delay in responding.
The following are the most popular employment search websites in Serbia:
They are all in Serbian, but are translated ready.
I see 34 ads for designers, including interior designers, on the first site I noted. That occupation's search link is:
@Banatus ahh thank you , for answering and information 😊. And do you now how to get stay permit in serbia but me and my fiance is not marriage yet
@danastringesti To enter the country from Indonesia, you must obtain a visa.
To remain in the country for more than 90 days and up to 180 days, you must acquire a residence permit, which can be obtained in a variety of ways:
- signing a job contract with a Serbian employer. This permit can be extended for up to one year and then for another year in a time of up to 180 days. This condition can be met even if a contract for volunteering or professional practice is signed, but only with companies that have a good reputation in our community;
- by establishing an entrepreneurial company for the independent performance of activities (which involves the obligation to enter into a real estate lease agreement, pay taxes, and make contributions to health and social insurance)
- by purchasing real estate. This grants you perpetual residency.
Additional possibilities exist, but the conditions for those possibilities are rarely met in reality.
Because I don't know your situation, you can translate the following link from the state website to see the other options and determine whether you might be able to fulfill them.
