Your best business development ideas in Ukraine

Priscilla

Hi everyone,

As a foreign entrepreneur, launching a business in Ukraine is a fantastic project and an exciting challenge. Some ideas are likely to succeed. Some others are promising but may not work as well as intended.

In your opinion, what kind of business or industry is likely to succeed in Ukraine? What kind of industry or service currently unavailable or underdeveloped in the country would meet local needs?

On the other hand, what are the most common business types foreign entrepreneurs would be eager to launch in the country but with very little chance of success?

Thank you for your insights.

From a lawyer’s point of view I may say that IT and agriculture are two businesses now I would outline as fast developing. Real estate market is now also a good time to invest in, at least in Kyiv and around as real estate prices are at their bottom.

Hi,

I can think of many opportunities for business in Ukraine, unfortunately corruption is so endemic right across the spectrum that sadly even if you did start a business you would probably have it taken away or closed down by some lower level oligarch. You don't have to look far to see corruption from the police, the courts, the banks to the local councils. Lots of anti corruption talk but the reality is different.

It should be a land full of opportunities, developing its way out of the Soviet style economy but I think it will take a long time until one can safely invest in Ukraine.
