Hi Sweja,

The primary concern should be to find a neighbourhood which is closer to the place of work first, and the school, next.

You cannot choose your neighbourhood first and then decide where you want to work or where you wish to put your kids to study.

While the larger part of 'old' Muscat is inundated with the Indian expatriates, all other neighbourhoods of Muscat too has a fair amount of Indians living.

If you rephrase your question as advised, you will get more pertinent responses.

The areas that you can consider are CBD and MBD Areas in Ruwi, Darsait, Qurm

... and what if the place of work happens to be at Al Hail, or Al Khoud, or Al Seeb, or Al Mawaleh, or anywhere around thereabouts ?

Sweja

Thanks Mitran ..
The issue is we are stil unclear but mostly work place will be around Ruwi and need to look for school in ghubra or darsait.

Can U give a fair idea about rents for 3bhk in these areas?
Are there also villas available in these areas and approximate rent
Thanks

Hi Sweja,

With the exodus of the Indian expatriates, in particular, exiting the Sultanate, housing has lately become an issue of supply far exceeding the demand. So it is now entirely the renters market.

You can get good deals on 3BHK flats and even better deals on independent villas. If you look at places like Al Wadi Al Kabir, you will get good bargains. Similarly, do check out Mumtaz Area, Al Falaj Area and around Sheraton.

Avoid old buildings. Go for new buildings.  Since you will be faced with the problem of plenty, take your time, choose well and strike the best bargain deal, to your advantage,

Sweja

Thanks for the information Sumitran ....will get in touch for any further assistance ðŸ‘
Also any specific reason for Indian families exiting the sulatnate?
