Doctors in Qatar

chintaka.desilva

Hi.. I'm a Medical Doctor from Sri Lanka with over 5 years of experience and interested in a career in Middle east. Could someone please tell me how's the life in Qatar as a lady doctor? Is it easy to secure a job there? Do I need to sit for a licencing exam? Could anyone kindly give me the relevant details please?

Are you an MBBS or you have additional qualifications viz. MD with specialization?

Know this for sure that Qatar has many doctors with an MBBS and hence competition could be tough ...although you may be better off with a specialisation.

The other factor to consider is that Qatar too undergoes the process of nationalisation (Qatarization) in professional fields viz. Engineering, Medicine, Finance etc. This is a process whereby preference is given to the local citizens of the country and then others are considered....if you know what I mean.

Hence it would mean that certain positions, promotions, remunerations would be up for consideration only after the above requirements are fulfilled first by the Government.
