Just arrived in Buraidah

Amobin

Hi, Evereybody

I came to Buraidah about two weeks back, working for Qassim University. I am totaly flabbergasted by the taxi fares here.

Any tips on how to deal wit h the taxi drivers and house/ flat to rent would be very welcome.

What sould be average cost of living with a family of 2 kids.

Thanks in advance

Buraidah must certainly be much cheaper than Riyadh for housing without a doubt.

Although I am unaware of the prevailing rates there its got to be within the SR 15-25K per annum for a 2-3 bedroomed bare bones apartment where you will have to furnish it from scratch including Aircon.

As for taxi fares they need to be negotiated upfront or you will get the skin ripped off your back.

I hailed a  taxi last afternoon from Faisaliah Tower to Al Aqariya Mall in Olaya, a distance of about 3 km and the Paki (Pattan) driver, when asked how much said, "SR 50 if you ask me but you are free to pay what you think is fair". I gave him SR 10.

the most bad thing i hate here in Buraydah is the few number of taxis. look for transportation rates. Buraydah, is small town when you travel for farther point in Buraydah it wouldn't costs you more than 40 SR coz i know this town very well.
