Fraudulent Calls

Laksh_39

Post Covid, many are receiving calls from hackers claiming that they are from MOI. Surprisingly, they have all our data including family details, bank account and card numbers. Has anyone fell trap for such calls and lost money? Is there any chance to get the lost money back? Appreciate a discussion on this topic as this will create awareness.

Nothing surprising about hackers having your data.

Hackers are getting clever, but a shocking number of the paper pushers that handle your data are utter morons.

They have a nasty habit of using passwords like, 'qwerty1234' - They don't intend to make it easy for hackers, but hackers exploit their stupidity.

This is a scam where they use social engineering to dupe the victims.

To keep it simple, there is zero chance of you getting your money back. Most of the scammers that call you are not even based within Saudi. All you can do is report their numbers to the telecom company and police (if they are calling from Saudi numbers).

Just keep a few simple facts in mind:

1) No halfway decent organization will call you via whatsapp.  And none will use mobile numbers either.  MOI calls originate from easily recognizable government numbers

2) There is no fine in Saudi that needs to be paid over the phone.  Everything is online via Absher where the Government is concerned
