Canadian citizen wants to move to Turkiye.

pearluk

Hi all. I鈥檓 a Canadian citizen married to a Turkish citizen and we want to move to Turkiye for at least 2 years then we will take it from there.

I鈥檓 aware that I need a resident visa but how and where to get? Do I have to apply here in Canada(we are in Canada now)聽 or apply in Turkiye?

Does this 鈥渂uy a house to get a resident visa鈥 still applies to me if I鈥檓 married with a Turkish citizen? Is there a visa for people who are married to citizens? For example, after we got married my partner applied under 鈥渟pouse visa鈥 to live with me.

Thanks in advance.

It is called the family residence permit. You do not need to buy a home or anything else. Being married to a turkish citizen is enough to apply for it.

you can even obtain the citizenship after 3 years of marriage not just visa, hope it answers the question 馃檪

@pearluk I'm a Canadian also married to a Turk and we recently moved to Turkey. Your spouse will sponsor you for a family residence permit. You do that once you're in Turkey. You can enter on a tourist visa and then I recommend applying for the family residence permit as soon as possible.
