Hi Joseph,

Canadians are mostly very friendly and accept newcomers to Canada with open arms.

Sad to say that lately (mostly following 9/11) some discrimination has raised its ugly head in Canada, but these people are in the minority, thank goodness.

Thank you, Mr. Woodward, for your response.  Are you currently in Canada or Brazil?  How long have you lived in Canada and what part?We are thinking of just being expat in Canada to get away from hatred and prejudice so the subject is very important to us before we make the move.

The Indians have tolerated foreigners for centuries.

Hi Nancy,

I'm living in Brazil now. I was born and raised in Hamilton, ON (near Toronto) and then moved to Vancouver, BC where I lived for over 28 years before coming to Brazil in January 2002.

I recently landed in Quebec, and despite barely speaking French (yet :-) ) I feel completely welcome and safe.
