I am a Canada born citizen soon getting out of Canada. I married hubby who is in Bombay India so I had involvement with Immigration.
Spouse sponsorship.The Immigration system is undergoing many changes and has been in a mess for years.They recently handled a backlog by eliminating all old applications. Check with the Embassy or website to make sure you are not one of them! Good luck

I migrated from Sydney, Australia with my young family at the beginning of 2011.  We were told that the process for the application will take up to three years.
All applications go to Sydney, NS for the processing.  The length of your application depends not only from where you applied (ie, the country of your origin), but also the application you submitted (family reunion, asylum seeker, skilled migrant . . . )  It also depends where you specified you wish to go.  Be aware, that application for Quebec and for the rest of the provinces of Canada is quite different, despite the fact that they are in one country. Further more, if you did apply to come to Quebec, you must speak French and you will be assessed on it.

I (as the principal applicant), applied to come to Canada at the beginning of 2010.  There were some bureaucratic stupidities that were delaying the process as our documentation was going back and forward to NS, but eventually we got it in eight months.
Do not be discouraged by my statement that we got our answer in such a short time.  Believe me, it was a test of patience and persistence that payed of . . . not exactly in the best interest for me . . . but that is a another tale

Thank you for your email.I am currently an accountant here in Canada so I know the systems real well. Canadian people are really nice mostly.
