6 months is 6 month out?

Randy G

Hi.  After staying 6 months in Brazil on a tourist visa (90 day + 90 day extension), when am I eligible to return for another 180 day stay?  I am getting conflicting info online. Do I have to be out of the country 6 months before it resets or do I have to leave for an entire year?

Thanks!

one year and one day from the date you first entered on your tourist visa.

you cannot stay 180 days anymore...

90 days, then leave for 3 month, and stay 90 days.

then leave again 3 month... that is a year...and 1 day...:-)

That depends on the country of origin.

  • Citizens of most EU countries can only stay in Brazil for 90 days in every 180 days;
  • Citizens of the major Anglosphere countries, most Latin American countries, and EU countries that have separate agreements with Brazil can stay for 90 days plus one 90 day extension, for up to 180 days in every 365.
  • Citizens of other countries have individual visa regimes, all published on the QGRV, available online.

Agreed. Look at the 365 days prior to your planned return date to Brazil. Days drop off the back of that 365 day record one month at a time, and until it shows fewer than 180 days used, you can't return.
