If you can fit your activities into the Digital Nomad definition, you should be ok. You can apply for an Authorization for Residency at the Federal Police if you have the necessary documents, without needing to go home and getting the visa from a Consulate.

Out here, get you Business Tax ID. The entry level version is known MEI CNPJ. That's a compulsory tax of R$ 60 per month.  It's a Flat rate. Also, any collected fees or monies generated under your MEI are taxed at a lower Taxable Rate.

As a self employed, by doing this, you avoid getting overtaxed in a city you stay ( this varies from city to city). That saves you money.

This is only valid if you are to generate your income from any in country transactions, where you collect a fee, commission or derive some gain. If your money is coming from Abroad, then a CNPJ MEI is a moot point.

"Consultants" here are a dime a dozen. Every Shmuck that has some printed business card call them themselves, Consultor ( that's Consultant in Portuguese ).
