@alan279 Well Mr. Fairweather Friend. I see now why I have not had any DMs from you lately. Looks like the train is back in motion. Thanx for NOT letting me know.

@roddiesho

Sorry, I've had a virus for a week. Everyone has had it, I've heard. Anyway, I'm better today. I rode my trike around the bay and stopped at the supermarket. I now have veggies! And it's winter. 🥶

That's the news from here.

@abthree

I'm taking naproxen for the joint pain.

Oops, dup post.

After a botched first cataract surgery by a SUS eye surgeon, I had a YAG laser procedure on the same eye at a private eye hospital.

Then cataract surgery on my second eye three weeks ago. I will get a new eyeglasses prescription in two weeks.

alan279

I told a friend that I waited 3.5 hours for my second cataract surgery. He said his doctor mother never arrived on time to patient appointments. 🙃

A tip:

Don't complain about your surgical outcome, the surgeon can easily file a criminal complaint against you for libel or slander.

I received my new eyeglass prescription from the eye surgeon and have discontinued all of the eye drops.

08/30/25  I was hit by a speeding motorcycle yesterday, and I was impressed with the care I received from SUS.

Like all national health systems it has delays for regular care, but it really shines for trauma.  One of the Good Samaritans who helped staunch my bleeding -- which was profuse, being principally from a head injury -- called SAMU, the SUS ambulance service.  The outriders for the ambulance, two EMTs on motorcycles with lights flashing and sirens blaring, arrived in about fifteen minutes, shortly after my husband did.  They bandaged my head, inserted a saline drip, put me in a neck brace, and gave the ambulance specific directions on how to find us.  The ambulance took us to the SUS hospital that handles possible head trauma; my husband rode along.  They took my info in the ambulance, and it took them a while to take me into examination, but not too long.  They ran me through the MRI machine, and only after they had those results did they clean me up and suture the gash in my forehead.  We were there about four hours.  I'll have to go to a clinic every day this week -- either SUS or our private health plan -- to have my bandages changed.  Total cost to us -- R$0.00.

09/03/25 @alan279 Thanks!  Not an experience I'd ever recommend, but it could have gone a lot worse.  I was very fortunate.  ðŸ™ðŸ»
