Hi All,

I know when jumping on a plane to brazil its simple, I just show my passport and Brasil residence card to be allowed on the plane.

On the Cruise site it states eVisa for Brasil is now needed for being able to board the ship.

Although I know there won't be a problem when entering Brasil at immigration, its the dock, I'm more concerned about.

Im hoping this cruise company allows me aboard without any issues.

Of course a residency card is more valuable and easier to qualify usually for travel at the departing city, but its not always the case.

Once I had to explain to a ticket agent that I dont need a visa because I'm a resident.

They probably look at visas glued inside passports all day and are familiar with them.

But this little plastic card seems a bit strange to some employees.

Obviously they are not trained enough at times.

So will I have a problem getting on my cruise which I paid a lot for?

I'd hate to arrive and be denied boarding.

Especially since there is not an expiration date on my card due to the fact I'm a senior in Brasil. Got my new card about 18 months ago.

I know the card shows "Indeterninad" (with last letter half missing probably due to printing error).

Anyway, can I learn more about this somewhere?

I called the cruise company but they refuse to and are forbidden to answer this question based on rules.

If you haven't already done so, do a search using the name of the cruise company and use the keywords "denied boarding" as well in the search bar. See what comes up.

Personally, holding the same RNE card as you do, I've never had trouble by air from anywhere in a boarding check, including almost all the South American countries. Seriously doubt a ship will be a problem. I'm sure it's a form of identity that they've seen before.

I believe you are talking about a one-way cruise to Brazil? I had experience of this a few years ago, and when the ship arrived in port, several passport control desks were set up in a lounge on the ship, manned by Brazilian staff. Most passengers were foreigners, so there was some surprise when we showed our permanent visas, and we were waved through very easily. So you should have no hassle at all...

Not sure when you are travelling, but e-visas at the moment are not required anyway until April next year - and may get delayed further.

I'm not really concerned what happens after I'm on the ship. I know that will be fine.

I'm just wondering how easy it will be for them to let me on the ship.

Do you remember which company you cruised on?

You will not be given any visa because you have an RNE already.

If you get boarding questions just say to them that since the cruise left from XXX port, "how did I get to XXX port ?"........show them your EXIT stamp from Brasilian PP control that relates to the cruise, then point out you entered Brasil legally with that card as well, so, it's obviously valid to board going home. Escalate if necessary, but I doubt it'll ever get to that.

Don't stress by over thinking it. I've been in and out of Brasil over 65 times from various countries.......doesn't matter that it wasn't on a boat.......the counter staff from the over 20 airlines I've been on all knew their stuff, you'll be fine with a cruise line.
