What is your favorite Beasilian "go to" junk food ??

GuestPoster6669

I've been painting my new apartment all week, and it's so hot here in the southeast that I had to stop and walk to the botequim a block from my house to recharge.

Sitting with an ice cold 600ml bottle of Antarctica and a plate of French fries with sliced sausage and fried onions.

"Batata frites com linguica acebolada"

What do you crave when you get the urge ?

02/18/25 Mandioca frita, hot and crispy, with a beer that's "estupidamente gelada"!

And while I'm all for the Northeast in most things, the very BEST mandioca frita I know is at Bar Serafim on Avenida Jandira in Moema, São Paulo Capital.  Whenever I'm in SP, Serafim is the one place that's always on the itinerary.

Aaahhhh aipim frito is what that's called in the SE. I love it as much as fries !!!!

We have a dish here with aipim, carne seca, fried onions, and fried garlic.

Here in PB we call fried aipim/mandioca macaxeira frita and I'm game. Beats fries.

...but an old time favorite of mine is a small plate of tripa assada (fried pork tripe) with a cup of caldo de feijoada (liquid from the feijoada) and shots of crystal cachaça to clean the palate.

..... or fresh from the air fryer homemade pão de queijo and coffee.

Sorry to hear about the heat. Friends in Rio say it really is oppressive.

It's OK walking at the beach or on the street because there is a breeze. Inside a building is tough to handle though, with or without AC. The cinemas and malls are packed because the AC there is the coldest and most consistent. I prefer being outside though.
