Thanks Pete. I see it is really the most central area. Would you say it might address some of my needs, below.

My interest is in :

  • being central and able to walk or short taxi to stuff
  • exploring the old city and enjoying the beach
  • touring - the lost city, visiting, camping in the national parks from time to time
  • Finding a hiking group
  • Finding Spanish lessons
  • Finding a nice pub/restaurant to hang out in from time to time with a mix of locals and expats
  • Playing tennis if possible - Just discovered there is in academy in the area. hopefully it has adult members and is public or has membership room

You are in the old city and the marina, Taxi to Rododero and Tagonga beachs about 15 min $3 fare

Tyrona park is some distance but lots of hiking about a 45 minute drive check Google maps

Lots of nice pub/restaurant 10 minute walk

I have no idea about Tennis, I just visit santa Marta about 6 times a year I do not live there
