Immigrant = Someone who moves to a foreign country permanently

At least this is my view of the topic. There are others, some examples:

º£½ÇÂÒÂ× = Someone who is temporarily send by his/her employer to a foreign country on a cushy financial package
Immigrant = Evil foreigners who want to destroy our country and should go back where they came from

All expats are immigrants but all immigrants are not expats.

What about:
An expat is someone who move from a richÌý to a poor country
An immigrant Is someone who move from a poor to a rich country.

Then what about all who move from rich to rich and poor to poor?

Another argument I've heard is an ex pat is someone who is resident but not a citizen of the country they live in. I'm not sure I agree,Ìý I'm resident in Ireland and proably will be forever but i'm a dual citizen of the UK and Malta, I think of myself as an immigrant.

An expatriate is someone who is living and working in another country on a temporary basis and will leave after his employment term is over.

An immigrant is someone who is seeking permanent residency in another country and will live there permanently.
