Hi to all my DESI bro / sis,
The salary as mentioned of USD 1000 savings is any time better with what you get today in India. Apart from salary, lot of things counts i.e.
1. Weather (Dar is hot and humid while Arusha, Moshi, Makambako, Njombe, Iringa and Mbeya are very cold in winter)
2. Food - You get all types of veg and non-veg food in Dar, Arusha and Mwanza but little difficult for veggies like me in other cities. You get all types of masalas and spices of Indian origin and thanks to many importers for helping us but with a price tag.
3. Crime - When the word comes as "Africa" we Indians believe the whole continent is dangerous.. Its true upto certain level. But Tanzania (TZ) is totally opposite. Crime is a bit high in Dar and Arusha. Just name one city of India where there is no crime. People are very nice, polite and supportive. Its upto us. YOU GIVE RESPECT YOU GET RESPECT. I stayed in Kenya and South Africa and I say TZ is 100 times better to live peacefully.
I stayed 7 years and only once my mobile was snatched and that too due to my mistake.
4. Religious and Social life - Here Indians move in their own community. Temples, mosques and churches are plenty. Most of the temples are in and around KISUTU street. Many bachelors enjoy saturday and sunday in disco clubs, casinos, etc.. Sex and liquor is easily available here, so be careful and remember you have your family in INDIA. AIDS is on higher side here. Many family get together and enjoy at beaches.
5. Investment - As per the financial leaders statement, Africa will lead in trade after 2025 so start preparing today. Indians are into import and manufacturing business. Lately many Indian companies have lined up into agricultural biz. Our AIRTEL has its presence here with TATA, MAHINDRA, etc.
6. Education - Definetly not like India. We have Indian school in Dar and Arusha and also plenty International schools. International schools are costly ranging above USD 6000/-. So many opt for primary schooling here and than transfer their kids to India for secondary and later. Getting visa to USA or UK for education is easier than India.
7. Citizenship - You get citizenship of TZ after completion of 10 years working / staying legally. Now its hard and waitlist is of 5 years.
8. Safari - You need 1 month to tour TZ which boast highest mountain in Afica, KILIMANJARO. Also the great safari called SERENGETI and famous Ngorongoro crater. Zanzibar tour of 2 / 3 days is worth visiting.
Overall, I think if you get a good salary like 1000 usd as savings, you must come here.
Any other questions regarding TZ? Please post, I will reply as I catch up with free time.
