The confusion of Public Holiday in Maldives

Hello All,

Is there anyone can explain to me about below case :

I have a friend work at resort almost a year in Maldives, she finally decide to leave there for another new challenge. After she resigned , she has been told that her DIL and public holiday which collected from the past can't either get paid or use within the one month notice. Is that true based on Maldives Law????

As far as I know, Public holiday need to either pay or can be use of the one month notice period since we worked in the specific public holiday early.

She feels that's not fair and maybe it's not the truth.she is asking me for help, however I know nothing about Maldives law. I hope I can get answer for her through the powerful 海角乱伦.

Hi.

I've been here for 2 months now and I can empathize how your friend feels. I asked about public holidays such as Ramadan supposedly a week off holiday. But I was told by our hr in our company that I still come to work on a half day.

Apparently I learned from other expats, the employer have a right and power to decide on either having employees off for holiday or paid during public holidays.

so... meh
