Can I apply STVP via a sponsor while holding Special Pass

shirokuma007

Hi I'm currently a digital marketer holding a WP (yes a WP). I've resigned and will be joining a new company however the EP is still under appeal for now. I know that I shouldn't resign before I get the EP approval (I only came across this forum recently).
For a WP holder I'm only given 7 days stay after my current company cease employment with me, and I'm from Malaysia, so there's flights coming in and out every week. High chance that I can't extend my Special Pass.
However, I have an aunt who resides in Singapore for over 20 years now and I was just wondering is it possible to ask my aunt to sponsor me for STVP so I can stay on while waiting for my EP approval?

Really hope to get some advice and direction from here.

Thanks.

There is no harm trying, but you should have a Plan B in case of rejection (e.g. leaving Singapore temporarily on short notice).

Thanks for the comment :) And yeah the only choice is to leave the country while waiting for EP to get approved. Just hope that it doesn't come to that.
However I called ICA and they said STVP is only applicable if I have an immediate family member here, and I heard different stories about this. Some said as long as a Singaporean or PR is willing to sponsor you then it's fine.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience regarding this?

Hi there!

I am facing similar situation as well as I would have to renew my EP pass soon. I am afraid the extension will be rejected and I would have to fly back home. Did you have to apply stvp thru ur aunt? And if yes, did it get approved by MOM?

thanks!
