Bringing original documents- specifically social security card

Jamison123

Hi, I'll be moving in a couple weeks. Is it necessary to bring my original social security card (national ID number) with me or will a copy suffice? I'd prefer to leave the original locked up with family.

Congratulations! Bet you're excited.

Were you asked to supply it by your VN employer? It's certainly not necessary for entry to the country. When I was employed here (2017-2020) I wasn't asked to provide my Canada SIN (social insurance number).

Unless your family has been locked up for identity theft, that's probably a good idea 😉
