Expired visa, help!
Hi guys!
My 3 month visa is expired. What do I need to do?
I was told the only was to get another 3 months is to go to Vietnam embassy in Cambodia. Is that true? Thanks in advance. for any insight.

I just take mine to the local tour guide operation and they handle it for me. Of course I have never actually let it expire.

You can get at least one 3-month extension but I'm not sure how hard that will be if it is already expired. I am told that it is possible to get two extensions but not everyone agrees on that, I have also heard that some people can get one extension after another.Â
But you had better get started soon. Go to a travel agent and ask about an extension, once you have an application in you are legally safe.
Unless being expired changes the rules you don't need to leave and come back, not yet.

Word on the street is that Visa extensions and Visa renewals in country are no longer available.
It requires one to exit the country and apply for a Visa on arrival.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My was renewed on Oct 29 for 3 months multiple entries. My work made the arrangements.

I've always had a 3 month visa but seemed like I would leave the country unexpected then get another 3 monther. I do remember my travel agent saying after my second 3 month one in a row that the next 3 month visa (3rd one)would be a minor problem. Then she said that a little extra in fees would take care of it. However I left the country again so no further details to share.

I was told just last week by a man in HCMC that several on here use that the Gov't is getting tough on extensions. How true that is I don't know, as I have not tried.
Semdragon,
You should take your passport and visa to a more reputable travel agent, he/she will be able to help you. Chances are... You will have to pay a fee, depending on how late your visa is.
Just don't hit immigration on your own. They will treat you like on of those lovely animals in the circus.
I got fined 1 mil VNDÂ a couple of months ago , for being 5 or 6 days late renewing my 5 yr Exemption Visa, ( also has to be done every 90 days, 210,000 ), and of course the wife had to front up and fill in the paperwork that went along with that.

Did you have to go the immigration office in Đà Nẵng City for that or did you just go to the immigration office at the provincial seat (for Quảng Ngãi Province, the seat is...oh... Quảng Ngãi City..how easy to remember)?

I have to first apply at Tinh Ky, ( where I am registered ), then take the application into QN, they send it, ( and passport ), somewhere, ( Sai gon , I presume ), I go back 3-4 days later , pay the fee and get my new Visa, but to do the 6 month Exemption, involved 2 trips to Da Nang. ( 200,000 application fee, previously I had been paying 735,000 for the 3 month extensions, I couldn't apply for the 5 yr Visa before, as my Passport only had 3 yrs left on it, and I'd already applied for PR in VN ).
It's convenient to approach some travel agents near you. If they refuse to do that just go to Cambodia and take from there.

I know I'm drifting off topic, and should start a new thread or search elsewhere, butÂ…. Is there a way to get a temp residency permit if you are not a business owner or investor in VN?
So many agents offered before this facility. But due to the new rules they are not offering these services nowadays!

The reason I ask is I was indeed offered such a service for a given dollar amount for a 2 yr. It would be far cheaper then the renewal of my B3 and not require me to leave the country and additional savings. So it is possible to get it done. I understand there are some places where the coffee fund is low so to speak and thinks can be helped along.

Marry a VN, then get a 5 yr Visa Exemption.
That also need to extend every 3 months!

Yes, but you don't have to leave VN, every 90 days, or pay 735.000 every 3 months as I was without leaving.

This is true and very annoying, which makes it worth it to just pay off people and become a citizen.
If your visa expires how much you pay and how difficult it will be depends on how expired it is and who you know. I was told last night under 20 days is usually 500 to a million VND but if you have friends, the fees can be cut down much more. Over 20 will jump to to 2 mil.

Wow, did I get burnt????? 1 mil for 5-6 days, and that was paid straight into their Bank.
Citizenship, surely you jest?, I've only ever heard of 1 Foreigner who has been granted Citizenship, ( and he sounded more like a French traitor ), I applied for PR, nearly 3 yrs ago, after 2 yrs we stopped inquiring, ( kept being told , ' the decision is now in Hanoi hands ' ), it once got as far as the Cong An coming out to ask my neighbours if I was a good bloke or not, but every now and then I get a visit from the Cong An, ( I think 1 of the male officers had taken a shine to me, he wasn't even in uniform one time ).
Thanks all for sharing.Â
Update:
First travel agent with Bus tours, took $50, plus $55 late fee, drove my passport to Cambodia, came back and returned my money 100%. He couldn't renew it.
Second travel agent, on Pham ngu lao, will take $125 for new visa(not renew), and $75 for late late fee. I will find out on 11/19 if it worked! Fingers cross.
Will update.

Oh sorry, the citizenship I meant for viet kieu, 'foreigner' it would be PR!

Math wise I think it is much cheaper to get the TR than my current 90 day renewal of my B3. If it is true this guy knows that the particular coffee fund is only short $1,000 USD.
