Is there anywhere in HCMC or Da Nang where one can buy imported American and Australian meat products for a restaurant?

Sure, Classic Fine Foods has branches in HCMC, Hanoi, and Da Nang.  Excellent quality meats, mainly from the Margaret River in Australia, but also including acorn-fed Iberian pork from Spain, etc.

Looks like a great company but perhaps a little high end for my purpose. From the website they are a 5 Star operation and most likely a little pricey. However I really appreciate the information and any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Metro then.  Branches in HCMC and Da Nang.  You get a member's card if you are a business (although I use my sister-in-law's and often don't get carded at all).  The meats are also from Australia, US, and Korea and definitely cheaper than Classic Fine Foods.   Good luck...

Actually I just checked their website after posting and noticed they have a branch in Nha Trang, so perhaps you know Metro already.  If not, check it out...

Yes I've been to Metro. A specialized wholesale operation with quality and service better than Metro but not as high end as Classic Fine Foods would be perfect. The restaurant is in Da Nang but could ship from HCMC.

Am I hard to please or what???

Well, you've exhausted my local knowledge now (living 20km from Da Nang).  We started at Metro  but weren't satisfied so we migrated to CFF for a less-frequent, but higher quality BBQ experience.  I'll be interested to know whether you find something in between.

Just curious are there any BBQ restaurants in Da Nang? Are your purchases for personal use?

richiv

Haven't heard of a BBQ restaurant there.  Yep, our purchases are solely for personal use--the traditional poolside barbie!

I was in Da Nang not long ago and had a taste for BBQ but didn't see an American style restaurant. Probably not many people interested in BBQ in Da Nang at least not ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork etc. Wow now I'm hungry!!

richiv

Yeah, you're probably right on the lack of potential patrons...but I'd be the first one through the door!  I do miss REAL BBQ.  Is there anywhere in HCMC or elsewhere in VN?

Not in HCMC that I know of. There is a place in Nha Trang called "Texas" but they don't do much business.

richiv

That's too bad because you really made my mouth water.  We were in NYC last week and had some great Italian and deli food, but no BBQ :sosad:

I went to Texas BBQ last month when I took my son to Nha Trang. I think i similar place in Da Nang could do well.

New restaurants are a huge gamble. I think the success ratio is less than 50%

VungTauDon

But the success ratio of the new restaurants that don't open is 0%

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

True enough. So let's be partners and use your money!
