I am living in Tegucigalpa. Where is this company HCMC located? In Tegucigalpa? Do you have any address? Maybe I could recommend you a good place to stay for a few weeks.
I know quite a lot of local people. My husband is honduran and I am Swiss. If you would give me some more information about the skills this people should have, I could maybe support you in finding someone.

There are some good hotels in Le Thanh Ton or Bui Thi Xuan street where you can afford with your budget.

With $50/day you can find a room at most of hotels in Dist. 1.
If you need a shared furnished room (#usd15/day, Phu Nhuan Dist - it's 15 minutes to Dist. 1 by motorbike),I can share 1 room with you if it's available at that time.

you could go to Tripadvisor then choose which hotel you prefer to stay:

Thanks Kev, I have been browsing TA, but was after some personal recommendations too, sometimes they can be a bit better than the anon and often conflicting ones found on TA. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi LBF - cool name :-)

I am fairly into the idea of a hotel coz of having other people run around cleaning and cooking for me :-) Our office in London is right in the city and I live slightly outside in Essex (Nr Southend).

I think you made a wise decision to move to HCM :-)

aside the cooking you will get the same in service in renting a room :-)
Eating out n about is relatively cheap and you will meet as many people as you will in the hotel. Probably more of the expats too.

Worth considering all the same.

With $50 a day you can get a lot of 4 star hotels at your choice within District 1.

I recommend Nam Hy Hotel on Nguyen Trai. It's in the middle of everything in District 1 and has great service. You can even walk to a lot of places like on Pham Ngu Lao street.

Read through the whole thread. May I know if you are now in HCMC and were you able to get a good place?

I lived in Bui Vien St., Dist 1 for several months last year. And as the others mentioned, it is more advantageous to rent a room rather than stay in a hotel. This is all the more so if you find a house owned by a nice family. I was lucky to have found the room I rented in Bui Vien. The family was unobtrusive and kind.

In any event, if you are still in HCMC, hope to get a glimpse of you . I specialize in IT, too, and conversations about software may be a good idea over a couple of brewski.

I am from Australia and am considering setting up business in Vietnam with a few friends also. IT is the most probable choice as well. Maybe we can go for a drink once I get there?

Thanks for the message. I ended up staying in a variety of places, but probably my favourites are the Bong Sen and the Liberty 3 and 4.

Back in Europe at the moment but will give you a shout when back in HCM. I am in IT / software too so we should have plenty to chat about
