Documents to fill out before leaving Vietnam

fpm10

Hi everyone,

After living as an expat for 2 years, I will be moving out of HCMC in June. I heard that we need a police clearance before leaving the country. Does anyone know if we need anything else done before leaving?

Thanks

Hahaha.

That would have to be the most ridiculous thing that anyone has ever posted.

Where did you read or hear this nonsense?

What a BS!

I wonder who told you this?

But probably it got mixed it up with the possession of an EDU-Visa in Thailand, were you really need a immigration clearance and a letter from the school that you can leave and be back at a certain date, in order to avoid problems when entering Thailand again!

But that's Thailand and we're not living in a prison here in VN.
Therefore sure no need for any clearance.

Hello

This is the first time I heard that need to get clearing ourselves before moving out. Could you give more information where did you hear that?

I heard it from my HR. It seems there's a need to prove that nothing is wrong with you before leaving. Can't say I'm surprised given just how this country drowns in bureaucracy.

If I learn more I'll post it here.

I think your HR is totally misinformed.  Time to get a new HR.

At best, ask your HR to give you a signed and stamped Tax Statement to show how they have deducted (and paid) your income tax over the last two years here in Vietnam.
Later you may need that document in your home country.
That's all.
