Return Visa

SilverGun

Hello everyone,

My wife had to return to our home country because of a medical emergency, while her dependent residence permit (which was already expired) was still under renewal in Belgium. Now I understand that we may need to apply for a return visa for her to come back.

If anyone here has gone through a similar situation, I’d be very grateful if you could share your experience:

How did the process go in your case?

What documents were crucial to avoid rejection?

Any tips or mistakes to avoid when applying?

We want to make sure we prepare everything correctly and don’t face unnecessary delays or refusal.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Good Day

Did your wife have an Orange card, and are you in the process of a family reunion while she lived in Belgium? Normally, if she is in the event of a family reunion and leaves the country without notifying the immigration office, then she will have to start all over again. I was in the same situation and could not leave the country, although I asked the immigration office. They said I cannot come back.

I am not sure of your real situation.  She will have to do the whole process again. The same documents will have to be provided as before. If you are working, then maybe there would be no issues. In my case, my husband is  Belgian and I have been married for 23 years, but have lived in South Africa and Belgium. I am being refused in getting a Belgian ID, although I lived here in Belgium previously and did get married here. She has to go the the Belgian embassy of her country and apply. Hope this will help.
