This is a common problem for visa applicants. You can book a temporary apartment, which is cheaper than a hotel but still far more than a normal rental. You'll need one anyway for the first few months until you find a regular rental place - there is a severe housing shortage in most German cities.

Make sure you can cancel or extend the booking flexibly, as you might need that!

I am from india and going for jobseeker visa to germany and wanted to know information regarding proof if accommodation, because i cant afford to get hotel reservations and i am not able to get a rental property with rental agreement from India and also wanted to know weather i will be required a proof which contains time period of six months or will just require a proof with few days or weeks?

Germany has a housing shortage and without a job you won't be able to find a regular rental property (and furnishing a German apartment is very expensive anyway). You need sufficient funds for your stay and if you don't have friends with a spare room, you should probably re-think your plans.

Like others have mentioned, this is difficult. Renting in such a situation is unrealistic but an AirBNB situation might have advantages over hotels. Yet if one is going to companies all over Germany than a fixed address is not so useful anyway. One would still need to get hotels rooms to accommodate the travel. This might mean paying double at times.

But this brings up the fundamental reason that I am skeptical of the idea of a job seeker visa. First of all, it has a lot of requirements to get. But the other thing is cost effectiveness – or lack there of. One can realistically expect to pay 100 to 200 euros/day for accommodation, food and travel on such a trip. And it is often a waste of time, money and effort. Nowadays the kind of jobs one would even get such a visa for are found online, as are the interviews in many cases. Before the internet, face to face interviews were often essential but that has changed.

If one would really take such a strategy then they should intensely research the potential employers and jobs in their field. If interviews really need to be done in person, then pre-arrange them in a short as possible doable period. Realistically, one could contact potential employers in a month’s time or two. Beyond this is likely a waste. If one prioritizes their most likely possibilities, then anything done after the first couple of months is probably just desperation. Going for the maximum time of 6 months more maximizes one’s cost rather than increases their chances of success.
