We take our dog on the virtu ferry all the time ( at least 8 times a year ) never had a problem. The dog stays in the car and the car deck is open at the front and seems cool to me when we return to the car.

The temporary ferry that is in use at the moment is a passenger ferry and I presume has kennels as dogs are not allowed in the passenger areas. This I guess is the area of concern and the kennels are situated in an  enclosed area that  has no free flow of air.

that's very worrying for me as we're due to use the ferry as foot passengers in just over two weeks and our dog would not cope with being confined like in that story. They had assured me that they had air conditioned kennels which although I appreciate the replacement doesn't, there is no way I'm putting my dog at risk.
