Already applied and still so many unanswered questions.

Reanef

I am an american married to a Norwegian. We have a child together, born in Norway. I have already applied for family reunion but something has me really worried. The finacial situation. My husband was supposed to start work but became very ill. I HAD to turn in my application if I wanted to stay here. He has to use NAV at the moment. We provided UDI with letters from the doctor explaining our situation. The job will be open to him once he is well but I dont think just that will satisfy UDI. Now I know in America, you can use a co-signer of sorts. Someone who will support you financially if you or your spouse cannot afford to. Do they allow that in Norway? Can it be anyone? Also if so, is it too late to get that information and add it to my already submitted application?

I actually asked someone at UDI about this and all she did was make me run to nav to get print outs of money he is receiving and the letters from the doctor. "Each case is considered carefully based on it's situations". Some how...I dont think there is THAT big of a grey area. More like black and white. That being said anyone who might know the answers to my questions or what might help, I give my thanks ahead of time!

One word of advice is that if UDI give you any trouble, go to the news papers with your story. Then UDI suddenly change their mind...... Im from Norway and I know it works

Sorry to hear your story. I was so frustrated with UDI when I applied my N citizenship. UDI is black and white and they're only acting in terms of the rules even the rules are contradictory in some circumstances. I suggest if you are able to hire a lawyer, do it, they may help you to find ways breaking through the rocklike rules, at least I had my case solved by them

Reanef, I know this won't be of any help to you, but I was wondering how it went for you to have a baby in Norway. How long did you live in Norway before you had your baby?
