NISS application for AIMA

PaulDukey

Hi all, I applied for the NISS using my contract as a Digital Nomad and I got this response as the reason for my rejection:

Não enviou contrato de trabalho /válido e assinado pela entidade empregadora e contratado - (traduzido para língua portuguesa). Não enviou o comprovativo do pedido de autorização de residência.

Could anyone help me understand what I need to do next?

1. You haven't sent to AIMA a valid work contract signed by the employer and the contractor - (translated into Portuguese).

To be a digital nomad, you have to work for an organisation in Portugal or outside Portugal.  You must therefore provide the contract you have with that employer, translated into Portuguese.

2. You haven't sent proof of your residence permit application.

? I don't understand. It's AIMA that provides this.  Could it be that what they want is proof of residence/accommodation?

Hi Paul,

"You have not sent a valid work contract signed by the employer and contractor - (translated into Portuguese). You have not sent proof of your residence permit application."

I am not aware of what other documents you have submitted by now, but AIMA will require valid work contract (I can translate/certify the translation for you).

Pus, bBefore you ask for a NISS, you need to apply to a residence permit -  a rental contract is needed (an Airbnb contract is not enough). Then yoy can file for an NISS.

I hope this was of help :)

It is telling you you did not provide a copy of your, signed, employment contract, in Portuguese, along with proof of your residence permit application. It really is incredibly difficult to do this type of thing on your own in Portugal. Maybe ask the employer for a lawyer or somesuch to help.

@JohnnyPT

My confusion is with the second bit about residence permit which you cannot get without AIMA and I thought you needed NISS for the AIMA appointment.

Hi thanks for responding. I have a year lease contract signed. How do I apply for a residence permit? Is this different from my AIMA appointment?

Hi Paul,

I guess I was not clear :)

"Before you ask for a NISS, you need to apply to a residence permit "

First step:  you apply to a residence permit in AIMA - you start the process here.

Social Security Services don't need the final permit at this point: they want documental evidence that you have applied. (This is the second step).

Then, after applying in AIMA, and along with your contract in PT, you can ask for your NISS  on the Social Security Portal.

As I have said, this is not under the competence of AIMA, its a prior step.

It can get confusing...I know...even for us portuguese.
