Acro showing “ Summary of Conviction “

Museo

Hi All .

Has anyone been successful with an NLV application despite their ACRO showing “ Summary of Conviction “?

I have a Level 3 misdemeanour against me and I’m over 7 years into the ‘clear period ‘ . I want to apply still but provide references and a letter / statement outlining how I got this ( very acrimonious divorce ) and also ..wait for it …my ex has agreed to provide a positive character reference for me as well .

Thanks

I think it depends a lot on the specific Consulate you apply to. My understanding is that non-violent misdemeanor convictions over 5 years old should not count against an applicant.

When I applied, I had a 22 year old “detention” for domestic abuse as the only item on my “record.”. A woman had broken into my home to try to steal things. I didn’t know her and called the police. When they arrived, she claimed she lived there and alleged domestic abuse. It was California so they took both of us to the station. Things got sorted out there. She got charged and I got sent home with no charges filed. Somehow, the detention appeared in the California Attorney General Records. Although I had the document Apostilled by the Secretary of State’s office, they held up issuing my visa until I obtained another Apostilled copy. There were staple holes in the one I had submitted because I had unstapled it to make copies and when I reattached it, the “extra staple holes” showed. I didn’t make copies of the second one and it had no staple holes (establishing that no pages had been removed). I then got the visa. When I picked it up, the consular worker told me that would not have happened at the other consulates where he had worked, but this particular consular officer was a “very suspicious person.”
