If you speak no Swedish, it will be difficult.  Although there are lots of international companies that want English speakers, they really conduct the internal workings in Swedish. A good source is to subscribe to The Local which is an internet newspaper written in English.  I was unemployed for almost 2 years before getting on and the best thing to do during that period is study the language.

There are a number of places to find work.  There is a good list of recruiters at so you can contact them directly with your CV. If you just want listings is a good place to start.  Best of all perhaps is the government site called but if you Swedish is limited, then try and stick to the English sites.  Hope this helps and good luck with your job hunt.

Couldn't agree more, Jersey. Learn the lingo. No shortcuts around this one. Even jobs that are looking for an English speaker are going to need you to have good Swedish also. Kind of obvious when you think about it.

Sure, you can survive without Swedish in Sweden. But you won't enjoy it nearly as much. It's what you're prepared to make of it.

Again- in agreement with Gplusa's post above. Not knowing Swedish while in Sweden (especially Stockholm and below) is more than workable. Swedes are more than usually very good with English although sometimes they have the cadence of Swedish when they speak English.

However knowing and learning Swedish is highly rewarding. Though it is a relatively small language, knowing Swedish will help you with your job placement in Sweden as well as make it a little easier to get around Sweden and the grocery stores. I applied for a job in Stockholm at a hostel and was turned away due to not being completely fluent. Even in small towns this can be very hard to come across jobs that do not require a level of Swedish.
