Beach Trike
I'm thinking about buying a beach trike. Would it be quickly stolen?
I admit I had to look it up to figure out what a "Beach Trike" was. Now that I have googled it, I would say you should be safe. I really don't think anyone else would want it, let alone steal it. Have Fun with it.

P.S. I am sure now all the Beach Trike fans will chase me down...at 2 mph.😉
Ouch, I almost, yes almost want to send you money so you can tell me what your experience with the bike is. One of the reasons I don't drive in Brazil, and I absolutely love living here, is because the roads are so messed up. That bike is just too long for your typical Brazilian road. It would look really cool on an American bike path, but not here. That profile picture of me was probably 30 years ago and the last time I was on ANY kind of bike.
I am sure I am not going to change your mind, so let me know how you like it once they push it to your house.

@roddiesho
I have bike paths close to my home in Ilhéus.
Not very practical in Tinytown (aka The San Francisco of Espírito Santo Brazil, Pancas). It would be nice on the downside but you’d be pushing it on the upside. Nobody would want to steal it, for sure.

Something like this
@alan279 I really like it.
At my age, everything reminds me of a story.... My wife returned to Brazil for a while when I was living in Maryland with our daughter. My wife was a little concerned about the guys my daughter, in her late teens, were seeing. She had me put a GPS in the back of my daughter's car. The amazing thing was that my Wife, bless her heart, was able to track our daughter to one of the bad boy McDonalds hangouts......ALL THE WAY FROM BRAZIL.

I received an offer to insure a bike. Here’s the translation of the coverage:
Accidental Damage Coverage including Theft (mandatory purchase)
Fall or collision while cycling, transporting or attempted theft, provided that it is carried out by the insured or is present in the transported vehicle.
Theft: During cycling and in places where the insured lives or is staying, in addition to storage areas (parking/bike racks) or areas intended for maintenance (bike shops or workshops). Theft of personal mobility equipment, through direct threat or use of violence against the insured, or breaking into the storage area with evidence of traces, as well as any damage caused by the simple attempt to steal them. Theft committed through skill, fraud or breach of trust, provided that this is proven by opening a police investigation, closed-circuit TV images and/or witness testimony, through the registration of a Police Report.
@alan279 Sounds Good. Do the numbers work out...How much do they value the bike at...

Argh, my fresh out the box Logitech keyboard can't make a question mark😒
Bike insurance costs about 10% of the initial price of the bike, per year.
A R$4.000 bike will cost R$400 per year to insure.
@alan279
That’s nice . I live in a beach town that would be perfect here. I lock my bike up here but I don’t see or hear about a lot of party crime or crime in general.
@alan279 Sounds Good! Go For It!

What type of bike lock do you use?

An R$80.000 car costs R$2.000..........
I honestly think it is to useless to be stolen, a regular bike OTOH........
@alan279
I bought a beach trike, a U-lock, a chain to wrap around a post in the garage, and bike insurance.
@alan279
Nice.. Is there a a beach trike community in Ilhéus, like a biker club? That might be a great way to learn how to trick out your ride, do mods etc… And maybe there are beach trike groopies too! 💃 Keep us updated.
@bepmoht
I think that I’m the only beach triker in Ilhéus.
@alan279
Nice trike!!! Just add some shiny chrome and a faux tiny gas tank and you almost have a "Captain America" like Peter Fonda's from Easy Rider.... Kidding!
Really, the best way to maintain mobility is to be active and what could be better than a stable bike on long beaches? Good choice!
What brand is it? I couldn't make that out in the picture.

I live 50 meters from a beach that stretches for five miles. 😁
Dream Bike is the brand of the trike.

Nice trike. Does it come with a walking stick or is this an addition? Where do you put the chain to lock? Both the front and rear wheels or to the frame?
I bought and installed holders for my cane. I lock the frame to an immovable object when I'm out, a bike rack or a street sign post. I lock the trike to a chain looped around a support column in the apartment building garage. The front axle requires wrenches to remove, as do the rear wheels.
An update on my triking experience. I mostly ride on the beach. I’ve ridden three miles down the beach and back a few times. It’s easy, smooth riding between the waves and the palms.
I can run errands in my neighborhood with little travel on the streets. It’s a very walkable neighborhood, everything is close, I haven’t owned a car in ten years.
Hills are challenging, as is soft sand. Drivers mostly don’t see a trike in a pedestrian crossing. I’m guessing they don’t receive any bonus points for killing a trike in a pedxing, but how else do you practice to become an F1 pilot in Ilhéus? 😵💫
All in all, I’m quite happy with my beach trike. 😀
Alan
Is that the model with with 7-speed Shimano gearing?

Yep, Shimano 7 speeds. I may need an electric motor for the hills.
Ya, maybe you can modify it with the “TRICICLO PRAIANO ELEKTRA MID DRIVE” crank and battery setup. I guess you could ask DREAMBIKE. It looks like it might be a direct swap out.
Now that I compared the two photos it looks like your frame won’t accommodate that motor. The DREAMBIKE folks may have another mod.
Well, enjoy the downhills anyway!
The mid drive electric trike appears to have a different frame, and costs three times as much, unfortunately.
