Warning to (primarily) ex-pat Women

abdulElkesh

Well, go back home if it makes you feel any safer.  why bother staying in place when you don't feel comfortable and secure. this what i would do if I were you.

Ok, this is a wind up isn't it ? You're a funny guy.  Nice one.
:lol::lol::lol:

1- ALL women should carry guns. In November 1996 a 20 year old Qaddafi (the clan) girl shot and killed a 22 year old Hesnawi (another clan) man in Sebha University because he was "annoying" her. In 1992 a Megrahi girl in Sebha shot three police officers killing two of them and chased away around 10 others in four police cars from the roof of her house, because they tried to break into the house to arrest her theiving brother. Some sort of anti-aircraft/machine gun was mounted on their roof.

2- I heared that during ramadan, some of our people lock their offices and drift off. I was told that you could hear them snore for hours and wake up only 10 minutes before they leave. aint that cute?

3- What in the world is a "stub wound"??!!

Mugging, stealing or what ever crime is got nothing to do with Ramadan. don't mix things up. for your information, Ramadan is a holly month where Muslim around the world fast the entire month for approx 12 hours daily throughout the whole month. So there isn't really much of spending going on.
We do feel sorry that...blah blah blah

Your PR guy!

I feel perfectly safe thanks, I'm more than culpable for looking after myself.

FWIW I don't think Tripoli is any more dangerous than most western cities (in terms of crime, not traffic accidents). But the original point of the thread was to alert º£½ÇÂÒÂ× women that they were being targeted by a small group of cowardly men. Saying it's less likely to happen  here than country A ,B or C is not helping if you happen to be living in Tripoli.

ddb

excuse me but i never heard about that in Tripoli.... but anyway it seems rarely happen in here

flipfinger

AAAAAAARGH!!  Yet another one completely missing the point...

Thank you for the info! Well, I personally believe that the imminent threat to a human is a human.. So never let your guards down, whether your home or abroad..Statistics are there for a reason! Every country has a number..! In libya, it may be less or more but there is one number for sure, isn't it :)

My male friend was stolen of his mobile at the point of a knife when he went to take a walk in the garden. He said that guy looked like any average college going kid! When knife is involved, its shit scary. Hence i don't wear any valuables when I leave my home. The point is when you are in a foreign land, you get noticed soon because you look different from the rest- feature wise or clothwise ..Hence picking on you gets easier. It is easier to trace your track, your lifestyle! These events can even lead upto a preplanned attack.

I'll be more aware from now on, may be leave the house without a bag ;) if attack is inflicted on me, ill show them what my "Bruce Lee" pose is all about :D:D Jokes apart, stay safe ladies and... gents too!

aha

well not only expats are targeted my cousin few months happen to her the same thing when a car drove close to the pavement and they snatched her hand bag..

and bout those who say they can stand up for them self so do something about it  better then coming and moaning about being stopped by local police.. back at ur homes i have seen judges taking money from expats, and some others being stabbed or killed just becuz they look different, so please

If I were you, I would take these rose tinted glasses back to the shop you had bought them from and ask them to exchange them for a pinch of common sense.
People on this forum are exchanging experiences of thier daily life in Libya and giving advice to those that ask for it. Nobody is attacking Libya or Libyans by doing this.
Pointing to what is wrong should be viewed as an opportunity to correct it.

well i was sharing my experience in Europe... about my rose tinted glasses i send them u maybe u will see better

Just use common sense, don't go randomly walking around areas, some are rougher than others. Don't walk around alone, don't wear alluring clothing on the street. Unlike western countries people notice that and reactions range from annoyance to arousal. I'll tell you this, our crime rate as far as percentages are concerned is ridiculously low compared to the rest of the world. This whole knife thieving thing is quite a modern phenomenon that occurred in the last 20 years. The very fact that people are more overtly religious and more attached to families than in western countries contributes to the safety. You must be a cock or have been walking around in the wrong places to get into any sort of trouble.

Do Not Feed The Trolls.....

Sandman6

I half agree with you Muddy... idiots like aha/abduElkesh/etc are nothing more than locals with chips on their shoulders the size of Egypt.

But, on the other hand, this is a site BY EXPATS, FOR EXPATS. Ok, let's have a laugh, a piss-take and a crack, but the hate that this idiot continues to spout is just plain nasty and has no place in the public domain.

Admin...pay more attention and log the IP of this OP

aha

:D eh guys thought u r more stupid funny  entertaining than this

I get u r here to share ur experience maybe u should take  walk in hadba or bosleam to have real good experience

I donÂ’t  agree with all the posts in here was it by naive Libyans or stupid expat and some said they are Libyan..pity wallah..

Trolls hatred jealousy envy call it what ever u want but I didnÂ’t mention any one in anyway,i was just replying on ur posts not on u and I wouldnt see some one mention my religion and Libya in any way bad was it or good and just sit back like some kiss a$$ Libyans n here do( thatÂ’s another category of kiss a$$ ppl)..

Mudman thought u stand up for things not ignore! Maybe u r right u all should agree, ignore and join him in his mud pool with his pig

Detective Columbo BLEH thought u more into mbc action not melody tone..just another Butthead  who dont know where they belong Striker..

One thing I thought some of u in here more open minded and understating the nature of the country where they liveÂ…but apparently  just pathetic  acting smart and sure way to shallow

Okay.  I'm not the smartest person, but Libya is on the continent of Africa, right?  Then Libyans are Africans.

I started an expat women's group.  And I have had several men from Libya join???????????????????  The website clearly states who and what it's for.
